Ingredients

1 lb Flank Steak or Sirloin Steak
2 tbsp Soy Sauce
1 tbsp Cornstarch
1 tsp Sesame Oil
2-3 medium Bell Peppers (Red, Green, Yellow), sliced into strips
1 medium Onion (Yellow or White), sliced
3-4 cloves Garlic, minced
1 inch piece Fresh Ginger, grated or minced
3 tbsp Soy Sauce
1/2 cup Beef Broth
1 tbsp Honey or Brown Sugar
1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
1 tsp Cornstarch
1/2 tsp Black Pepper, freshly ground
2 tbsp Vegetable or Canola Oil
Optional: Sesame Seeds for garnish
Optional: Green Onions, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Pat your beef slices dry with paper towels, then mix with 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp cornstarch, and 1 tsp sesame oil. Set aside to marinate
  2. Chop the Vegetables: Slice bell peppers and onion, and mince the garlic and ginger
  3. Whisk the Sauce: Combine 3 tbsp soy sauce, 1/2 cup beef broth, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tbsp rice vinegar, 1 tsp cornstarch, and 1/2 tsp black pepper in a bowl
  4. Sear the Beef: Heat 1 tbsp oil in a skillet, sear the beef in batches for 1-2 minutes per side, then set aside
  5. Sauté the Vegetables: In the same pan, add remaining oil and cook onions for 2-3 minutes, then add bell peppers, garlic, and ginger, stirring for another 3-4 minutes
  6. Combine and Thicken: Return beef to the pan, add the sauce, and stir until thickened, about 1-2 minutes
